Activation energy and it's relation to chemical reactions.

I will be telling you what activation energy is and its relation to chemical reactions. First of all activation energy is the energy needed to make a reaction happen. Without the activation energy nothing would happen so really it’s very important in Chemistry. Activation energy is usually in the form of heat. A example might be like a spark to start a fire but it’s not the fire that’s doing it it’s the energy from the fire that get's it going. Without the thermal energy from the spark nothing would happen. Now the relation to chemical reaction would be something like having dry wood to make a fire. Since it’s dry it doesn’t require as much thermal energy to start the fire. So the activation energy is lower. But if you only have wet wood to use to make a fire it requires more thermal energy to have a fire. So that means a higher activation energy.



The activation energy was great enough here to make the sugar cube catch on fire.
